Harvest Church

Preparing hearts for the Lord's harvest.

about us.

We are a multi-cultural, non-denominational, Christian Evangelical Church

Barrhaven Harvest Church is a small church that desires to impact its community by helping people trust in Jesus Christ and grow in their devotion to God's Kingdom.

We see people:

  • finding themselves by finding Jesus;

  • learning to love one another because God first loved us;

  • valuing truth and thereby finding freedom;

  • choosing God's ways over their own;

  • sharing the hope of their salvation with others;

  • using their gifts to further the Kingdom of God.

(Statement of Faith)

People who are part of Barrhaven Harvest Church believe that God exists, that He is the creator of the heavens and the earth and that human beings have a very special place in His heart above any other of His creatures. Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 8

We believe He created all living things, from the smallest microbe to the largest mammal, to the unseen beings known as angels. Genesis 1, Jeremiah 10:16

We believe in the interaction between the unseen world and the seen world and in their eventual long term convergence. 1 Corinthians 6:2-3

We believe that the current creation is finite and will come to an end, but we believe a new creation is yet to come. Revelation 21:1

(Statement of Faith continued)
We believe that sin, individual and corporate, is the reason for decay, disorder and destruction. Romans 6:23

We believe that repentance from sin is key to salvation and restoration both on a personal and corporate level. Romans 3:23, Matthew 3:2, Acts 2:38

We believe that Jesus, God's only Son, came from heaven, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, but paid the penalty for sin -death- on behalf of all who would believe. John 3:16,

We believe Jesus rose from the dead, returned to His Father in heaven and that He will soon return. 1Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:11

We believe our view of Jesus in this life determines where we will spend the next. John 3:36

We believe that those who reject Jesus in this life will be rejected by him in the next and suffer the consequences of that choice in a state of regret and torment. 2 Peter 3:12-13, Revelations 21:1, Matthew 25:46

We believe that those who acknowledge Jesus as saviour and Lord in this life become children of God again and can look forward to benefit from that decision both in this life and the next. John 1:12-13

We believe one's decision to follow Jesus will be tested but that those who rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to remain in the faith will not regret their decision. John 16:33

(Statement of Faith continued)

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God and that it is meant to be read regularly, to be preached and taken at face value.

We believe in the formation of local churches (assemblies of believers) to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, to preach His gospel and to make disciples.

We believe that disciples are to be confirmed in their faith through baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and that the church exists in large part to teach disciples to obey everything that Jesus has commanded. Hebrews 10:25, Mark 16:15, Romans 12:4-5, Acts 2:42

We believe in respecting authorities, contributing to our communities in meaningful ways and seeking to live at peace with others. Hebrews 13:17, Titus 3:1-2, Romans 13:1-7, Jeremiah 29:5-7, 1 Peter 2:12, 2 Corinthians 9:8-11, Matthew 5:9, Romans 12:18

We believe that God isn’t being slow about His promise that Christ will return but that He is being patient for our sakes, not wanting that anyone be destroyed but that everyone repents. 2 Peter 3:9

All glory to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen. Romans 16:27

When folks become convinced that they'd like to be part of the Barrhaven Harvest Church community, here's the commitment we ask of them.

Wayne and Melanie met at the French Église Baptiste Évangélique de Gatineau in the summer of 2001. Wayne had been an active member there for a few years when Melanie joined. They developed a friendship and ultimately married in late 2003.

They were graced with three wonderful children in the following four years. A desire to secure an education in a context that reassembled their values and efforts at home lead them to move to Barrhaven in 2014 so their children could attend Ottawa Christian School.

Wayne and Melanie frequented a couple of different churches during their transition to Barrhaven but ultimately felt the Lord lead them to join Liberty Church in Kanata due to their strong focus on church planting.

Wayne and Melanie served on the leadership team at Liberty Church from mid-2017 until launching Barrhaven Harvest Church in the fall of 2020 with the full blessing and support of the former.

Melanie came to the Lord in her early twenties with an eager desire to serve. Wayne came to the Lord at a very young age and was baptised at sixteen shortly after his relationship with Jesus began to take deep root in his heart.

We look forward to helping bring in the sheaths of God’s harvest in Barrhaven and to lead God’s people by example in following Jesus unapologetically.
